Slim fish reports lately – early in the week I did read of a first hand sighting of 2 surf fishermen coming back from the jetty area of Oregon Inlet each carrying a 20#plus striper. Every once and awhile I hear of a slot sized drum taken from the beach, usually around O. I.
Back in 2013 researchers in the Cape Cod area put a satellite tag onto the dorsal fin of a female 14 ft great white shark and affectionately named her Katherine. On Friday evening Jan. 9 after cruising through Oregon Inlet, Katherine’s tag pinged her location just northeast of Stumpy Point at 8:45 PM. 14 hours later she pinged again just south of Swan Quarter. At that point she must have gotten really pissed off cause less than 3 hours later she pinged again on the other side of Cape Hatteras after dashing through Hatteras Inlet!!!
