Fishing Report Sept 24, 2013

Tuesday Sept 24th is going to be one of those special days.  The wind is light out of the north at less than 10 mph with mostly sunny skies and a 0 % chance of rain.  The expected high will be 69 degrees with a sea water temp at a warm 72.  Sunset is 6:58 pm with sunrise tomorrow at 6:52 am.
First tide is low at 5:03 am and high is 11:19 pm
Second tide is low at 6:00 pm and high is 11:39 pm

There have been some big red drum caught from the piers during that blow we had – jennettes had 5 yesterday.  Sea mullet ,nice ones, and several slot sized puppy drum have been taken also from the surf.  Chatting with Avalon pier this morning the staff saw a couple specks being carried off the beach north of the pier – is the trout run starting?  Shorter days, northeast winds and cooler temps are sending messages to the baitfish, puppy drum and speckled trout that it’s time to start heading south (running the gauntlet we call the Outer Banks).

No boat report – the boats didn’t make it out yesterday.

Should have some more fresh finger mullet tomorrow.  Be a hero, take a kid fishing!!!
